Dear Bergers,

I just wanted to tell you how much the Marines in my work center enjoy Bergers. As a native Baltimoron, I’ve always loved a good Berger, so my mom recently sent a box of Bergers to me in Al Asad, Iraq. Much to my disappointment, I was barely able to get one for myself before the other Marines finished them off. They absolutely DEVOURED them!!! You’ve found at least ten new fans – a number that is sure to grow if the rest of my squadron finds out about the secret that we hide in the Flight Equipment shop.

Almost every baked good that comes over here is a dried out version of its former self….but not Bergers! They were just as soft and fudgy as ever! They were the highlight of the week and I can’t wait until Mom sends another package in the mail. What a wonderful taste of home!

Thanks again for the fabulous taste of Bergers!
Sincerely,
Emily Miller

Hello folks:

I went to college in Baltimore and recently came back to have our wedding there. Wanting to make sure our out-of-town guests got to experience the “Best of Baltimore”, and we wanted to have Berger cookies at our wedding. Everyone (in-and-out-of-towners) loved them and said it was the best & tastiest “wedding cake” they’d ever had. All were gone and we will be sending Bergers as part of our thank-you notes to all your newest fans.

Many thanks to everyone at Berger Cookies for working with us to make sure we could get these to the reception without melting, even in August heat. Enclosed is a picture and our thanks!

My husband surprised me at Christmas with a box of your wonderful cookies. What great memories they brought back! Just as good as always! I am a true-blue, born- and- bred Baltimorean with Old Bay and Berger cookies in my veins. Thank you for your wonderful product. Your web site is now in our “Favorites” list…..

Thank you so much for doing a good job with my recent order! Mr. DeBaufre called me because the APO address I was shipping them to was a little odd and I reassured him that that was the correct address for my friends who work at the US Embassy in Burma.. I wanted to let you know that I got an email from my friends last week–the cookies arrived in Burma and were very fresh. They were very excited to get such a care package. Thank you for helping provide a little bit of home to some Baltimore people far away in Asia!

Merry Christmas,

Jennifer W.

My Mom was born in Baltimore in 1917. She remembered what a treat it was when her grandmother visited and brought them Berger cookies (presumably from Lexington Market). I’m glad you’re still in business, because our family is still enjoying your cookies–for at least 5 generations!!

I had to write and tell you the story of my grandfather and how he ate Berger’s cookies. Now, he had quite a sweet tooth–he was once seen hiding behind the couch as a child and drinking sweetened condensed milk right from the can–so he loved your cookies. But he had a twist with Berger’s. He would cut a cookie in half, slather some butter in between and put the two halves back together to make a sandwich! Amazingly, he was very fit and lived to be in his eighties. It’s still a story that makes everyone in my family smile.

To Whom it May Concern,

I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how excellent your cookies are. I describe them as being created by someone who always ate “black and white” cookies. As I did, this person often felt shafted in getting too much vanilla…..lol. He or she thought, ” wouldn’t it be a great cookie if we reduced the size of it and 86ed the vanilla completely… and while you’re there, just put way too much chocolate icing to make up for my lost years drowning in vanilla.”

Needless to say, they are cookies after my own heart….speaking of which, I am in love with the man who introduced them to me and most likely moving to Maryland to be closer to your cookies, um, i mean….the man, of course. A sincere fan from NY,

Julie

In our family your cookies used to be for special occasions or company only. That was because they taste so wonderful, they couldn’t be server or a normal run of the mill day. Then one day at the store I picked up a pack of your cookies, hoping to surprise my family. Well, it was a wonderfully summer day and along with the regular eats everyone serves at a Baltimore cookout we also had delicious hot steamed crabs. I almost forgot about the cookies until I went into the kitchen and saw the bag from the store. I hesitated serving them after eating crabs, not to mention everything else. I thought “why not”! I arranged neatly on a serving dish and covered the dish with a pretty linen towel. Everyones eyes lit up trying to guess what could be under the towel. I had earlier in the day hinted about a special surprise but by the time I served it had almost forgotten my teasing. I made up a few clues, exaggerating of course, trying to get them to guess what I had. Well, by the time I pulled the towel off the chocolate had started to melt and they looked like a delicious chocolate pie. I sliced it served it and now call it our “nothing special but because we deserve it delicious, most favorite dessert”, quite a mouthful, but I had help from all the kids. This is just to let you know how we love Bergers cookies and they are almost a part of our family.

Thanks for reading.
